There are as many answers as there are homes in the world, each one unique and special in its own way. No matter the living condition, the size or what our houses are made of, we each have the opportunity to make our house a home.

Our clients had recently purchased an 1829 townhome that they had fallen in love with in Boston’s historic Beacon Hill neighborhood. The garden level was in need of more extensive changes in order to create a more open and interactive concept with additional light. Walls were eliminated and windows were enlarged to create an expanded kitchen, sunny breakfast room, and a beautiful sitting area. But what truly captures the essence of a home can be found in its authenticity, in how it genuinely reflects the person or the family that lives there. This is why many of us aspire to create a home that embodies who we are.
That’s because your home is the space in which you develop as a person in all your different versions. He claims that our homes are the places where we yearn to have both protection and freedom at the same time. In these concrete refuges, we protect ourselves from the outside, feel free, and are able to fully be ourselves.

A home is built over time, and it is far more than just a house. When you own your home, every room is a reminder of something you hold close to your heart. Maybe that’s where you and your spouse got married or where your child took her first steps. No matter what you’ve been through together, those memories will always be there for you to appreciate and cherish. If you’ve lovingly decorated every room in your home, you won’t forget about those memories overnight. While visitors can judge how much you’ve decorating by what they see when they walk in the door, it’s not quite the same as when you’re actually living in those rooms.
Putting your art, photos and objects on the walls is one of the quickest ways to make a house feel like a home. It’s a step that, while in reality is easily changed, feels quite permanent. My challenge for you today and this upcoming month is to make your house a home. No matter how big or small our houses are…Whether you can vacuum your whole house with one electric socket or you have to unplug it 10 times, we can make them become HOMES.
